Another month goes by…

Well, once again, after telling county officials an application would be filed by the end of the month, IMEDC has not done so. The latest word is that a pre-application meeting will be held shortly after Memorial Day. Then the developer will need a few weeks to get together all the necessary paperwork and file its application – likely 2 to 3 weeks.

On an unrelated note, the Elko New Market City Council workshop at 6 p.m. on Thursday will discuss land use and economic development as part of its annual Scott County Association for Leadership and Efficiency (SCALE) workshop. City Administrator Tom Terry describes the workshop as “land use and planning 101 for elected officials.” The workshop will help Council members work with developers through a mix of presentation and role-playing. The regular Council business meeting will follow at 8 p.m.
